Programs & Services

Individual & Group Support

ALS in the Heartland is proud to support families affected by ALS.
Our Patient Services team provides emotional support, advocacy, and resource connections to individuals and families - either in person or through Zoom, phone, text, or email.

We also offer a Telehealth Program with high-quality webcams to make virtual support simple and secure.

Whether you are an individual living with ALS, a caregiver, or someone who has lost a loved one to ALS, and is looking to connect with others facing similar challenges, we offer two support groups designed with you in mind. (More information below.)

Support Groups Available

Zoom Social Hour

For individuals living with ALS. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend alongside them.

ALS in the Heartland offers a monthly Zoom Social Hour - a casual, fun, and supportive space designed primarily for individuals living with ALS. Family members and caregivers are welcome to join alongside their loved one.

We meet virtually on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 3:00–4:00 PM (CT). Each hour includes lively trivia games and open conversation about anything and everything - not just ALS. It’s all about connection, laughter, and shared experiences with others who understand.

Whether you join every month or just once in a while, you’re always welcome.

Caregiver Group

For caregivers of individuals living with ALS.

Our monthly Caregiver Support Group is a space created specifically for those caring for a loved one with ALS. This group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 1:00–2:00 PM (CT) and is facilitated by our social worker. Our first Caregiver group of 2026 will start on April 9th!

This is a dedicated space for caregivers to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges of caregiving. Whether you prefer to listen or share, you are welcome here!

Aftercare Group

For those who have lost a loved one to ALS.

Our Aftercare Support Group is a space created for individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one to ALS. This group offers a supportive and understanding environment to navigate grief, share memories, and connect with others who truly understand this unique journey.

We meet virtually on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:30 - 6:30 PM (CT) via Zoom. Our first group will begin on April 22, 2026!

Grief looks different for everyone, and there is no right or wrong way to move through it. Whether you feel ready to share or prefer to simply listen, you are welcome here. This space is here to support you wherever you are on your journey.
