Congrats, Sabrina! We love & will miss you!

After nearly 9 years with ALS in the Heartland, Sabrina Schalley, our much beloved Patient Services Director, will soon be taking the next step on her career journey. This means that, with many bittersweet tears for her and us, Sabrina is bidding us adieu (as a staff member).

The staff member who has been with our agency the longest, Sabrina has made an immeasurable impact in helping to establish, shape, and grow our agency and its mission. She has worked—not tirelessly, but certainly without halting—to provide amazing support and care to individuals and families as they face the initial news of ALS and to help them prepare emotionally and tangibly for the journey, and then has continued to support their loved ones for years after.
Sabrina’s last day at ALSITH is Thursday, June 22. (Starting next week, Sabrina will be the Manager of Social Work at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.) We wish the absolute best to the absolute best!

We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding in the coming weeks. But mostly we ask you not to be distressed; we have a plan in place so that services and support can continue as unimpeded as possible. While it will likely take some time to find a suitable candidate to transition into the Patient Services Director position, we already have secured 2 caring, capable, and familiar faces to assist during the search and transition. Our former practicum students Emily Rokon and Bre Vera, who each trained under Sabrina’s supervision for months and who are familiar with many of you and how things work at our agency, will be stepping up to work with our individuals and families in the interim.

Welcome (back), Emily and Bre! You are huge blessings to us!
