Wednesday, May 23rd is Omaha Gives!

This is a 24-hr period focused on donating online to area nonprofits.

While a giving day isn't your typical Walk or other event, ALS in the Heartland depends on it to make a good chunk of our budget.

In the past, your donations have:

•Enabled people with ALS to stay home rather than moving to a long-term care facility.

•Installed tracks to transport now-immobile patients from one room of their home to another.

•Purchased Dynavox devices to help patients who can no longer speak still communicate their thoughts and feelings to their loved ones.

•Provided a grant to a patient's teenager for the purchase of graduation materials - an important milestone that otherwise would have gone unobserved due to their family's steep medical expenses.

•Fitted a patient with an electric wheelchair so they could still enjoy taking their dogs for walks.

•Given patients, their spouses, and their children stuffed animals with recording devices so they could preserve the sound of their voices to play whenever they want.

•Sent social workers to patient families to provide support in their homes and at clinics.

This year, we hope to continue such services and much more. But we need your help. Will you consider donating to ALS in the Heartland during Omaha Gives?
